Tableau expands partnership with Microsoft

Tableau recently announced the expansion of its partnership with Microsoft to deliver deeper, more data-driven and actionable insights by integrating Tableau with Microsoft Teams and improving interoperability with Microsoft Fabric.

Integrating Tableau with Microsoft Teams will make access to analytical data easier and more convenient. Now users can work with this data without switching between programs. Integration with Microsoft Fabric will allow you to use OneLake data to create unified analytical information. This will save users’ time and help them stay in the work rhythm, without having to copy data to other systems.

Why it matters: Microsoft and Tableau have been working closely together to improve analytics and AI capabilities for their customers. This means that Tableau customers can easily use Microsoft’s cloud and data services. These integrations help customers get more value from their data and IT investments.

Many people use Microsoft Teams and Tableau together. They discuss data from Tableau during conversations and meetings. But nowadays, data exchange is not instantaneous, and this can make information outdated or inaccurate. When a user wants to conduct additional analysis, they need to log out of Teams, copy the data, and paste it into other programs. This slows down your work and can lead to data leaks.

When Tableau and Tableau Pulse become available for Teams, users will be able to share data more securely and efficiently. Microsoft products are also important to analyze. Tableau already works with services such as SQL Server, Azure Synapse, and Azure Cosmos DB. And adding access to Microsoft Fabric data will expand the selection of sources for analysis in Tableau.

Data collaboration and AI-powered analytics will help customers work more efficiently, make informed decisions, and maximize the use of their data across platforms.

The benefits of an extended partnership with Microsoft include:

  • Tableau and Microsoft Teams. With the Tableau for Microsoft Teams app, users can share Tableau visualizations in Teams chats and meetings. They will also be able to set up alerts and subscriptions that will be sent to Teams. This will allow people to analyze data better and make more informed decisions. For example, a virtual sales booth manager will be able to show their team real-time goal achievement data in Teams meetings, ensuring the convenience and security of sharing only the necessary information via Tableau or Pulse metrics.
  • Tableau Pulse and Microsoft Teams: Tableau Pulse is an enhanced way to process data in Tableau that gives employees intelligent, personalized, and contextualized insights. With this integration, people get personalized data to better understand trends and changes in their Teams performance. They can easily go from a summary in Tableau Pulse in Teams to a page with detailed analysis with just one click.
  • Tableau and Microsoft Fabric: Microsoft Fabric is an easy-to-use analytics platform that combines tools for working with data and analytics. It combines various data services, including data processing, storage, real-time analysis, and business intelligence, in a simple and user-friendly SaaS interface. Microsoft OneLake is a unified data warehouse. Tableau’s integration with Microsoft Fabric allows users to easily find, explore, and gain valuable insights right in Tableau and Tableau Pulse based on data from OneLake.
